Doune Castle – our star attraction

The castle of Doune is within walking distance from the B&B. There are three routes you can take to visit the castle.
Follow the tourists along main street towards the A820 and turn right just after the Catholic Church and along the single-track road. We don’t suggest you drive in the peak summer period as parking is scarce.
Castle Hill Crescent, turning left down Castle Hill and going through the gate into the field that runs along the fence line and cricket pitch. Come to a gate, pass through and walk a short distance through the woods which brings you out onto a road that takes you to the car park for the castle.
Cross over from the B&B, head down Bank Street, turn left onto George Street, right onto Graham, right onto Castle Hill and pass through the fence at the edge of the car park. Follow the path alongside the school, go through the gate down to the river and when you reach the river turn right.
Other fun things to do are picnics, pond dipping, swimming (if you can brave the cold water), walks along the river Teith and the Ardoch Burn.
