Doune Castle - our star attraction
The castle of Doune is within walking distance from the B&B. There are three routes you can take to visit the castle.
Follow the tourists along main street towards the A820 and turn right just after the Catholic Church and along the single-track road. We don’t suggest you drive in the peak summer period as parking is scarce.
Castle Hill Crescent, turning left down Castle Hill and going through the gate into the field that runs along the fence line and cricket pitch. Come to a gate, pass through and walk a short distance through the woods which brings you out onto a road that takes you to the car park for the castle.
Cross over from the B&B, head down Bank Street, turn left onto George Street, right onto Graham, right onto Castle Hill and pass through the fence at the edge of the car park. Follow the path alongside the school, go through the gate down to the river and when you reach the river turn right.
An authentic tour finished with tasting. They offer a super service, posting your purchases home for you.
Relax in the Coffee Bothy for a light lunch, tea and cakes. Their menu is inventive and modern.
Buttercup Cafe Open till 4pm
An award-winning cafe right in the middle of the village, serving creative lunches and rather delicious cakes. They cater for everyone and have an impressive range of gluten-free offerings. Very popular, we suggest you book.
Designer clothing for those looking for something a little different.
Blair Drummond Safari Park is the only one in Scotland. It is teaming with African and other wildlife and you can spend an entire day here, happily, without getting bored.
They have introduced a rare Amur tiger which is worth a visit to see.
